Centre State Exports Background
Centre State Exports is a privately owned and operated South Australian family company, which has been in the grain business for over 25 years. The owners have over 90 years of collective experience and active participation in South Australian agriculture, and with backgrounds in driving competition and innovation in service to the cropping sector, they have adapted this approach to assist growers to market their grain.
Centre State Exports has been built on the philosophy of being the growers' partner in grain marketing. Centre State's role is to do the leg work to find the best marketing option for growers and back this up with a simple and easy to understand contracting and payment system and most importantly, timely payment every time.
The business began on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula specialising in pulse crops. With the introduction of canola to rotations, Centre State added this to the list of grains traded and the business steadily expanded across all regions of South Australia that grow canola and pulses.
The most recent phase of growth for the company has been the move into barley and wheat marketing following deregulation of these markets. This now sees Centre State offering marketing services for all grains grown across all regions of South Australia.
Centre State has established many strong trading relationships with the reputable key players in the world grain trade. With a reputation for being a reliable company who always delivers, Centre State is a preferred supplier with these companies. Centre State is independent and is neither tied nor aligned with any single buyer and therefore can seek out the best return for local grain growers.
Always delivering on promises and at the end of the day paying on time, has built the Centre State reputation for being reliable with growers, and Centre State has become the preferred buyer for many growers.
What’s more, virtually the whole Centre State team is connected to country South Australia and knows farmers and farming. It might be discrimination, but if a person isn’t from the country, chances are they won’t be working at Centre State.
Importantly, when growers ring Centre State there are no recorded messages, no pressing for option 1, 2, 3 etc and no passing between “Departments”. It’s direct to the marketing team and because the same people have been in the company for many years, it’s usually to the same person every time.
Being locally owned and operated, Centre State Exports is here for the long haul and there is no hiding and no excuses, just honest and direct discussion with committed South Australians working for the long term success of our growers, buyers and the South Australian grain industry.
Centre State is also an active and financial member of Grain Trade Australia (GTA), Grain Industry Association of South Australia (GIASA), Pulse Australia, Pulse SA and the International Pulses Trade and Industry Confederation. Centre State is involved in numerous industry forums and the development of industry policy and strategy.
